Players should expect to play 2-3
times per week. This would include
practices and league games. Although
we have no restrictions on players
playing other sports at the same time
as lacrosse, we would certainly not
recommend it. It is not fair to yourself,
your teammates, or your coaches to
make a team commitment and not be
able to participate in as many team
practices and games as possible.
Most games are played Monday through
Friday evenings between 6:00 PM and
11:00 PM. The younger players are
given the earlier time slots.
The registration fees subsidize team
and individual pictures for each player.
Fundraisers (Pub Night) subsidize
ONE tournament entry fee for each
team. Each team must actively participate
in the fundraiser to receive the club
sponsorship of a tournament entry
fee.
Box Lacrosse is physically demanding
and a significant degree of physical
contact is allowed and expected. Lacrosse
is a great way to improve a child's
hand eye coordination.
Participation in the sport of
Box Lacrosse has proven to have fewer
noteworthy injuries to its players
than have been associated with hockey,
baseball or soccer.
Equipment Needed:
- Shoulder pads
- Lacrosse or hockey gloves
- CSA Approved helmet
- Mask or cage (CSA Approved)
- Jock protector
- Elbow pads
- Lacrosse stick
- Back and kidney pads
- Slash Guards
- Clean indoor running shoes
- Knee pads (mandatory)
- Mouth guard (mandatory)
First year Mini-Tyke, Tyke, and Novice
players can be supplied a stick, slash
guards, back and kidney pads (stock
permitting). A very limited amount
of equipment is available on a rental
basis.
We have new players every year, and
they enter at every age group. Most
players show dramatic improvement
over the season. All teams are formed
with parity in mind and there will
be experienced players playing alongside
new players, boys and girls alike.
This helps ensure that the new players
are helped to hone their lacrosse
skills.
